Les Feldick Bible Study

What does it mean when a door closes on an opportunity?

A closed door indicates God does not want you moving in that direction. It is not a barrier to force open, but guidance to stop pushing. Look instead for the other open door He provides and take that one, trusting His leading.

Les explains that God often directs believers through open and closed doors rather than speaking audibly. When something does not fly and the door closes, the believer should not push against it. Instead, the closed door should be taken as God saying He does not want you in that direction, and there is another open door over there. You take that one. Les also says the Word can impress you through prayer, and that is how we find the things God wants. This fits his broader point: believers are not to demand particular gifts; they are to present themselves as available, let Him direct them, and leave the choice to the Holy Spirit.
