Why did the Jews accuse Jesus of being accursed?
The Jews accused Jesus of being accursed because He had been hanged on a tree, the cross. Deuteronomy 21:23 says that he who is hanged is accursed of God, so under Israel's Law they could bring that charge with a clear conscience.
Les teaches that the Jews could, with a straight face and a straight conscience, accuse Jesus because He had been hanged on a tree, the cross. He points back to Deuteronomy 21:22-23, which says that if a man commits a sin worthy of death and is put to death and hanged on a tree, his body must not remain all night but must be buried that day, for he who is hanged is accursed of God. This is why they were in such a hurry to get Jesus off the cross—they knew this verse. Under Israel's Law, the one hanged was accursed of God.
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
