How should you approach people with the truth without compromising it?
Approach them with the whole attitude the Apostle uses: love, patience, and understanding, without compromising the truth in the process. Do not go up to people and say, 'Unless you do such and such, you're going to hell,' because you will close their mind immediately.
Les teaches that without love, patience, and understanding, people will get upset and angry. He shares a letter from a lady who said that even though she came from a different background and could not yet agree with everything, he never offended her with anything he taught. Les says his whole goal is to say things contrary to what some have been taught without making offense. This is exactly what Paul is saying: coming in the spirit of love. Les applies this to everyone: when you approach someone who may be as hell bound as they can be, do not say, 'Unless you do such and such, you're going to go to hell,' because that closes their mind right now. Instead, approach them with the Apostle's whole attitude of love, patience, and understanding, and do not compromise the truth in the process.
