Les Feldick Bible Study

What happens when you teach or correct people without love and patience?

Without love, patience, and understanding, people will get upset and become angry. Harsh correction, such as telling someone they are hell-bound unless they change, closes their mind immediately. The proper approach is love, patience, and understanding, without compromising the truth in the process.

Les explains that correcting or teaching without an attitude of love, patience, and understanding causes people to become upset and angry. He illustrates this with a letter from a Minnesota lady who said that even when she disagreed with things he taught, he never offended her. Les says his goal is to say things contrary to what some have been taught without making offense, just as Paul came in the spirit of love. He warns against approaching someone and saying, unless you do such and such, you're going to go to hell, because that closes their mind right now. Instead, believers should approach people with love, patience, and understanding, while not compromising the truth.
