Les Feldick Bible Study

How did God make Eve and present her to Adam?

God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, took one of his ribs (a side chamber), closed up the flesh, and from that side chamber made a woman. He then brought her to Adam, presenting her as his mate.

Les teaches that after Adam had named the animals and was still alone, God said it was not good for man to be alone. God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; He took one of his ribs, which Les prefers to call a side chamber—the same definition as the Hebrew word—and closed up the flesh. From that side chamber the Lord God made a woman and brought her to the man. Les also turns to Genesis 5:2, where male and female are called Adam, showing Eve was in Adam and part of him, so Adam could be the federal head of the human race in salvation.

Genesis 2:22

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

More Questions

Was Eve created from Adam's rib or from a side chamber?

God created the woman by taking a 'side chamber' from the man (Adam), not a literal rib, as the passage reads when the Hebrew word Sela is correctly translated as side chamber.
