What did the Lord tell Peter to do in the vision in Acts?
In the vision in Acts, the Lord told Peter to kill one of the animals that came down in the sheep and eat it. Peter objected, saying he had never eaten anything unclean. The Lord was teaching Peter a lesson about grace and freedom from kosher restrictions, using the same analogy Paul later applies.
Les explains that Peter saw the sheep come down in Acts, and the Lord was teaching Peter something totally different, but it was the same analogy. The sheep was filled with all manner of four-footed animals and creeping things. The Lord told Peter to kill one of them and eat it. This was a shock to a good kosher Jew, so Peter said, 'No way Lord, I’ve never eaten anything unclean.' But Paul now brings that freedom that grace brings even to the Jew, meaning you don’t worry about whether it’s kosher or not; the Lord has created it, thank the Lord for it and eat it. That’s where we are today.
