Why should a Christian be careful about what they practice?

Christians should be careful what they practice because believers and unbelievers are constantly watching them. Even though grace is not license and they are not under law, not all things are expedient or edify. Every believer is a living epistle, read by those who never open the Book.

Les explains that grace is not license and he never implies believers are free to do as they please. Though the believer is not under law, so no law forbids him, not all things are good for him, not all things are expedient, and not all things edify. Therefore every believer has to be careful what they do and practice, because believers and unbelievers alike are constantly watching. Les points out that Paul used the expression that every one of us is a living epistle. Many people will never pick up the Book and read it, but they can look at you and read. The Corinthians, living amid abject immorality, idolatry, and mythology, were to be a living epistle wherever they went in that Greek culture, something the world around them could read and understand. This teaching builds toward the practice of the Lord's Table.
