What does 'way of escape' mean in 1 Corinthians 10:13?

The 'way of escape' is God's provided means to endure testing, pictured as an entrapped army whose commander finds a side canyon for escape. God is faithful, will not allow testing beyond ability to withstand, and reveals the escape at the appropriate time.

Les explains that the Greek term behind 'way of escape' pictures an army entrapped in a canyon. When it looked as though there was no escape, the commander found another little canyon off to the side and let his army escape. That is the picture for believers who feel trapped in temptation and think there is no way out. Les emphasizes that there is an escape, and God will reveal it at the appropriate time. Because God is faithful, He will not permit testing above what a person is able to withstand; He provides the escape so they can bear it. The temptations are common to man, the same for every individual, and the Lord Jesus Himself faced them all, so He knows.

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
