What did the remnant who returned from Babylon do?
A little remnant of Jews returned from Babylon under Ezra's leadership and rebuilt the temple, as God commanded through Cyrus, king of Persia. Their return began to set the stage for the nation of Israel at the coming of Christ.
Les explains that after Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem in 606 B.C., God made commandment through Cyrus, king of Persia, to go back and rebuild the temple. That work was under Ezra. So Ezra rebuilds the temple, and a little remnant of Jews come back from Babylon and begin to set the stage for the nation of Israel at the coming of Christ. This return marked a preparation for Israel's future at Christ's coming.
