What happened when the remnant of Jews returned from Babylon?

After the seventy-year Babylonian captivity, a little remnant of Jews returned and rebuilt the temple under Ezra, as God commanded through Cyrus, king of Persia. Their return began to set the stage for the nation of Israel at the coming of Christ.

Les explains that after Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed Jerusalem in 606 B.C., during the Babylonian captivity, God made commandment through Cyrus, the king of Persia, to go back and rebuild the temple. That work was under Ezra. So Ezra rebuilds the temple, and a little remnant of Jews come back from Babylon and begin to set the stage for the nation of Israel at the coming of Christ. The captivity had lasted from 606 B.C. until 70 years later, about 540-something B.C.
