Why did some saved Corinthians still not understand God compared to idols?

Paul explains that not every Corinthian had that knowledge. Though saved, some remained weak in faith and still conscience of idols. Having been raised under pagan superstition, they did not yet comprehend the true God compared with powerless idols; therefore meat offered to idols defiled their weak conscience.

Les teaches that even these Corinthians were saved, yet they still lacked comprehension of our God compared to the powerless gods of idols. Paul writes that not every man had that knowledge. For some, conscience of the idol remained up to that hour, so they ate meat as a thing offered to an idol, and their weak conscience was defiled. Les explains this refers to weak, young-in-the-faith believers. They knew where that meat had gone before it reached their table, so they had reservations about eating it. In a pagan society, religious leaders kept people under control by saturating them with superstition, which helps explain their lingering fear and misunderstanding.
