Did the saved Corinthians fully understand God compared to idols?
No. Even though some Corinthians were saved, they still lacked comprehension of the true God compared with powerless idols. Paul notes not every man had that knowledge; some, with conscience of the idol, ate meat as offered to an idol, and their weak conscience was defiled.
Les explains that Paul says some of these Corinthians, even though they were saved, still didn't have the comprehension of our God compared to the powerless gods of idols. Paul then says not every man has that knowledge; some with conscience of the idol to that hour eat it as a thing offered to an idol, and their weak conscience is defiled. Les clarifies these were weak, young-in-the-faith believers who knew where the meat had gone before it reached their table and had reservations about eating it. He adds that pagan religious leaders kept people under control by saturating them with superstition. So their salvation did not mean they fully understood God's superiority over idols; some remained weak in knowledge and conscience.
