What kind of adornment should a Christian wife focus on instead of outward appearance?

A Christian wife should focus on the hidden man of the heart—the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is not corruptible and is of great price in God's sight. Rather than outward adornment like braided hair, gold, or apparel, she lives an exemplary Christian life, chaste and reverent, to win her husband without preaching or nagging.

Les teaches from I Peter 3 that wives are to be in subjection to their own husbands, so that an unbelieving husband may be won without the word—without preaching at him, dragging him to church, or bringing him under the television ministry. The wife's adorning should not be outward, such as the braiding of the hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of apparel. Instead, she should focus on the hidden man of the heart, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price. She lives an exemplary Christian life before him, a chaste manner of living coupled with fear, not by nagging but by her manner of living.
