What outward adorning should a Christian wife not rely on to win her husband?

A Christian wife should not rely on outward adorning—such as braiding the hair, wearing gold, or putting on apparel—to win her husband. Instead, she wins him by her chaste manner of living and the hidden man of the heart, a meek and quiet spirit, without preaching or nagging.

Les teaches from 1 Peter 3 that a believing wife with an unbelieving husband should not try to win him by preaching, nagging, dragging him to church, or bringing him under the television ministry. Instead, she lives an exemplary Christian life before him. The outward adorning she should not rely on includes braiding the hair, wearing gold, or putting on apparel. Her true adorning is the hidden man of the heart—the born-again spirit—an ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in God's sight.
