Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the result of young people not knowing the biblical teaching on marriage?

The result is that young people enter marriage with no commitment, no moral foundation, and no anchor, because the Church has failed to teach them biblical promises about marriage, sex, and children. This produces trouble, with over 50% of newly married couples expecting divorce within a year or two.

Les explains that young people take marriage lightly, even while using wedding symbols meant to picture two becoming one. A recent poll found that over 50% of young married couples, married within a month, expected their marriage to end in divorce within the first year or two. They go into marriage with no commitment because the Church has failed to teach young people. As a result, they no longer understand the biblical promises of marriage, sex, and kids; it is completely unknown to them, so they enter marriage with no commitment, no moral foundation, and no anchor. Les says this is why we are in trouble. Yet the biblical concept has never changed from the Garden of Eden: God intended one man married for life to one woman, and only if death interrupted it were they free to remarry.
