What happened to the Corinthians who had formerly been immoral?

Those formerly immoral were washed—their sins and iniquity were cleansed. The text declares, 'such were some of you, but now you're washed.' Like Peter and the other ten men, these Corinthians had salvation and were washed of their sins. God's grace was always greater than their sin.

Les explains that gross immorality was part and parcel of everyday experience in Corinth and the whole ancient world, not only among the common people but all the way to the top. Coming back to I Corinthians chapter 3, he points out that 'such were some of you, but now you're washed.' Just as Peter and the other ten men had salvation and were washed of their sins and iniquity, so were these Corinthians. Les connects this to Romans chapter 3: where sin abounded, God's grace is always greater if the individual wants to partake of it.
