Les Feldick Bible Study

Why does God deal with us differently than He dealt with Israel if He is the same God?

God has not changed; the God of Israel in Genesis is the same God today. Yet He deals with people according to changed circumstances. Scripture must be read with its audience in view, not confusing what God said to Israel with what applies now. We are now on resurrection ground.

Les explains that the whole secret is to remember to whom a particular portion of Scripture is writing or speaking, and not to get confused by bringing what God said to Israel into today as necessarily apropos. That does not mean God has changed. The things God hated in the land of Israel in the Old Testament He still hates today. The God of Israel and Genesis is still the same God we deal with today, but He deals with us on far different circumstances, because we are now on resurrection ground.
