Does God deal with Israel nationally or individually?

God deals with Israel on both a national and a personal level. The nation is addressed collectively, as in Exodus 19:5 where 'if you will obey,' yet individuals within Israel are also dealt with personally by God. Scripture presents both dimensions.

Les teaches that God deals with the Jew on two levels: one national and the other personal. In Exodus 19:5, God says, 'If you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant.' The word 'if' is conditional, meaning it is up to Israel; they are left with a free will even though under a sovereign God. Faith and obedience become almost synonymous. God always brings up these covenants, which all boil down to the master covenant made with Abraham and repeated to Isaac and Jacob: Israel would become a great nation, dwell in their own land, and one day God would be their king and government. The nation is to be aware of this covenant and obedient in preparing for its fulfillment and being used of God as intended. So God deals with Israel both nationally and personally.
