What should a steward be when left in charge of a business?

A steward placed in charge of a business should be faithful. That means he must be honest, keep good books, and not steal from the owner. He is expected to manage what belongs to another person as a good, faithful steward of that property.

Les explains it with a business illustration: if you owned a business and were going to move to another state, leaving it in the care and management of a manager or steward, you would expect him to be faithful. He would have to be honest, keep good books, and not steal from you; he has to be a good, faithful steward of what belongs to you. Les then relates this to Paul giving every true believer an understanding of the mysteries, though most do not understand them, and he tries to help believers understand the mysteries that make up the Body of Truth, the dispensation of the grace of God.
