What does it mean for a steward to be found faithful in 1 Corinthians 4:2?
To be found faithful means a steward—a caretaker, manager, or overseer—must know and faithfully administer the mysteries. It requires studying and learning so he can pass these truths on to those who have never heard or know nothing of them.
Les teaches that in 1 Corinthians 4 Paul puts a responsibility on believers of this age. Although Paul speaks in the first person, what he applies to himself he applies to all his listeners. A steward is a caretaker, manager, or overseer, and you cannot oversee or manage something you know nothing about. So the believer must study and learn. The mysteries are what the steward is to administer, and if he does not know them, he cannot manage or share them. Verse 2 says it is required in a steward or manager that he be found faithful. That means once we get hold of these mysteries, we are faithful in passing them on to those who have never heard or know nothing of them.
Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
