Where did Paul and Barnabas come in Acts 14?
Paul and Barnabas came into Lystra, one of the little towns or villages Paul visited during his earthly ministry, as recorded in Acts chapter 14. While there, they performed a miracle, and the same Greek word protos is used in that verse.
Les teaches that in Acts chapter 14, verse 12, Paul and Barnabas had come into Lystra, one of the little towns or villages Paul visited in his earthly ministry. They had performed a miracle there. The verse uses the same Greek word protos that appeared earlier in Luke 22:26, where Jesus spoke of the one who is greatest or most prestigious being as the younger, and the chief as one who serves. Les explains that protos means prestigious, someone in leadership, at the head of the line, not intrinsically wicked or bad. So in Acts 14, the same word is used in connection with Paul and Barnabas at Lystra after the miracle.
And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
