Do you have to be a spiritual giant to do the work God has for you?
No. A believer does not have to be a great spiritual giant or a theologian in order to do the work God has for them. God wants to use every believer, whether weak, a babe in Christ, or still somewhat carnal, because they labor together with the Eternal Sovereign God.
Les teaches that Paul writes to the Corinthians so they will not become discouraged. Yes, they are carnal and still babes in Christ, but they are laboring with the Eternal Sovereign God. In other words, you do not have to be the great spiritual giant that some theologians seemingly are in our eyes in order for us to do the work God has for us to do. God wants to use every last one of us, whether we are weak and a babe, and yet maybe a little carnal, or whether we are further up the ladder and more spiritual than even the average. Paul says we are laborers together, and he calls them God's husbandry and God's building. The possessive term is with God; He is the owner of everything and owns us by virtue of the redemption price of His shed blood. It is the preaching of the cross that gets people into this position. As believers in the finished work of the cross, God is our partner and overseer over everything we say, think, and do. We are His workmanship, His husbandry, and God's building.
