Do you have to work to attain salvation?

You do not work at all to attain salvation. It is all of grace by faith plus nothing. But after entering that salvation experience, God expects believers to work for reward, to enhance His work and Kingdom and bring honor and glory to His Name.

Les teaches that most of Christendom assumes you must work to attain salvation, but the transcript insists you work absolutely not at all for salvation. Salvation is all of grace by faith plus nothing. However, once a person has entered into that glorious salvation experience, God expects believers to work for reward. The purpose of that work is to enhance His work, enhance the Kingdom, and bring honor and glory to His Name. He remains the Sovereign God, and believers are His little worker bees. Paul uses the analogy of a foot race in I Corinthians 9:24, where runners run, but one receives the prize. Paul says believers should run that they may obtain—not salvation, since they already attained that by faith.
