Why does God build up the body of Christ to completeness?
The body of Christ is built up to completeness so that the Lord can take it unto Himself. Then He will pick up where He left off with His covenant people. The completion of the body precedes that resumption of covenant dealings.
Les explains that the purpose is to bring the body to its completeness, enabling the Lord to take it unto Himself. After that, He will pick up where He left off with His covenant people. In the same context, Les emphasizes that believers are laborers together with God, hooked up with the Creator God Himself, and can feed on His promises day in and day out. Even though God does not always work as we think He should, He remains sovereign and in control, and our carnality does not cancel our status as laborers with God. This truth encourages those who are not spiritual giants.
