Are Christians today also unable to handle the meat of Scripture?
Many professing Christians today are in the same state, unable to handle the meat of Scripture. They are not ready for it and remain on the milk of the Word, just as the Corinthians were. This is a sad commentary, as it was then.
Les teaches that the same problem exists today. Just as Paul had fed the Corinthians spiritual milk because they could not bear strong meat, many professing Christians today have nothing they can handle of the meat of Scripture. They are not ready for it; they are still down on the milk of the Word. Les calls this a sad commentary today as it was then. The underlying reason is that they are still carnal, meaning believers controlled by the flesh rather than by the Holy Spirit. Paul says they were not able to bear the deeper doctrinal things, and neither are they able now.
