Why does God not use highly educated, polished people to proclaim the gospel?
God does not use highly educated, polished people because He can only use what the world views as nothing. He brought Moses down from lofty status, reducing him to a lowly sheep herder before sending him to Pharaoh. Moses had been second in Egypt, yet God made him a nobody first.
Les teaches that there are very few, if any, intellectual, highly educated, highly polished people whom God uses to proclaim the gospel. He says God does not use that kind of person; God can only use what is nothing in the eyes of the world. Les uses Moses as a prime example. Moses had become second man in Egypt, the greatest nation in the then-known world, with power and authority over armies and civilian operations such as road building and bridges. Moses thought he could lead Israel out, but God sent him to the back side of a desert to be a smelly sheep herder, an abomination in Egyptian eyes. God put him there to bring him down from his lofty position to a lowly sheep herder who likely lost communication skills and saw no one. Out of that circumstance of being a nobody, God said, “Go to Pharaoh.”
