Will God forget about a church with sin and weaknesses when Jesus comes?
No. Despite a church’s weaknesses, failures, and even gross sin, the coming Lord Jesus does not forget His own. At the rapture He will confirm them unto the end, locking it in and settling it once and for all, so they are confirmed as His own and blameless.
Les explains that the setting is a carnal church with immoral practices rampant. In spite of their weaknesses, failures, and many times gross sin, the Lord was not going to forget about Corinth if He came; the answer is no. Then verse 8 speaks of the coming Lord Jesus, the rapture, who shall also confirm you unto the end. Les emphasizes that “confirm” means He locks it in, settles it once and for all. The Lord Jesus Christ will confirm them unto the end—until Christ comes or they pass off the sin and death—and He had confirmed them as His own, that they may be blameless. Les admits this is beyond his logic and comprehension, but it is what God’s Word says.
Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
