Les Feldick Bible Study

Does grace give Christians the freedom to live however they want?

No. Grace sets believers free from legalism and the yoke of bondage, but it is not license. God's saving grace does not give Christians freedom to live as they please. They are freed from bondage, not given permission to sin or disregard God's authority.

Les emphasizes that when a person becomes a believer, that is when true freedom is understood. Paul repeatedly says, "Be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage," and warns against coming under the heavy yoke of legalism, because believers have been set free from all that. But Les also stresses that this freedom is not license. We are not given the freedom to live as we please simply because God has saved us by His grace. In this age of grace, Paul is the authority through whom God is speaking to the whole human race.
