How do we receive God's mercy?
God's mercy is received by faith. Because Christ died on the cross and took God's wrath for the sins of the world, God poured out His mercy. We do not have to beg for mercy, since it has already been poured out; we simply appropriate it by faith.
Les teaches that mankind often thinks God did not do much extra and that we sort of deserved it because He made us, but we deserve absolutely nothing. God provided a way back to Himself because of His mercy. When Christ died on the cross and took all the wrath of God for the sins of the world, God not only poured out His wrath but also poured out His mercy. Therefore, we no longer have to beg for mercy; it is already poured out and all there, and all we have to do is appropriate it by faith.
