What did God do for us when we stood at His mercy?

When we stood at His mercy with nothing we could do, mercy was poured out. God came in and did everything that needs to be done, and the only requirement is that we simply believe it. He accomplished on our behalf what we could not accomplish for ourselves.

Les teaches that the person standing before God had nothing to offer—not even fig leaves—and could only stand at His mercy. That mercy was poured out, and God came in and did everything that needs to be done if we will simply believe it. The point is that this standing before God is not resolved by human effort or self-made covering; it is received by believing what God has done. Les then connects this to the living sacrifice of Hebrews 13:15, which God asks for, not commands, as the believer's response to mercy.
