Does the Old Testament contain doctrine for the Body of Christ?

No. Paul says the Old Testament things were written not for our doctrine. Grace and salvation, the Body of Christ, and the Rapture are not found there. However, believers should still study the Old Testament because it provides the foundation for what grace-age believers believe.

Les explains that while the Gospel accounts and the Old Testament can have perfect applications for believers, they were spoken to Israel under the Law, so care is needed. Paul says those Old Testament things were not written for our doctrine; grace, salvation, the Body of Christ, and the Rapture are not found there. Yet Les insists this does not mean we neglect the Old Testament. He loves teaching Genesis because it contains the beginnings and the foundation even for grace-age believers. He also points to the comfort of the Scriptures that gives hope, illustrated by David, who after his child died said he could not bring the child back but would go to him.
