If I don't get even with someone, who will do it for me?
Scripture says believers are not to avenge themselves. Paul writes, 'Avenge not yourselves' and 'Vengeance is Mine.' God will do it for us. He may take longer than we would, but He will square the matter; it never fails. So we are to give place to wrath and let God handle it.
Les explains that Paul's command 'Avenge not yourselves' flies in the face of human nature, because we always want to get even. Yet Scripture tells the believer we do not have to try to get even, because God will do it for us. Les acknowledges it may take Him a little longer than it would us, but He will. He compares it to the principle that what goes around comes around, and it never fails. If God is in control, and someone has misused you, give Him time; He is going to square the matter. The foundation is verse 19: '...give place to wrath, for it is written, Vengeance is Mine.'
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
