How did God speak to us in these last days?
In these last days—from Christ’s first advent to the end of the age—God has spoken to us by His Son. In times past He spoke to the fathers by the prophets, but now the same triune God has spoken through the Son.
Les explains from Hebrews 1:1-2 that God, who spoke in times past to Israel’s forefathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken by His Son. Les clarifies that the “last days” cover the whole period from Christ’s first advent to the end of the age, not merely the Tribulation and Second Coming, which are the “latter days.” He notes that although the Holy Spirit inspired Scripture, its words are the words of God the Son, and Paul repeatedly said he heard Jesus speaking to him. So God’s final revelation comes by His Son, not by the Spirit as most people would probably say.
