Why don't more people who can teach actually step up and teach?
Many who are able to teach do not step up because they are afraid, as one who was scared to speak before even ten peers. God can overcome that fear; teaching is a gift He gives and designates, not something to boast about.
Les explains that not everybody can teach, but a lot more people can than actually do. The reason is fear—he admits he was scared to death to get up in front of even ten of his own peers when he was a kid. But God overcame that fear, and Les says he knows God has given him the gift of teaching, with no apology, yet it is not him but Him. He applies the same to others: whatever your gift is, don't boast; it is a gift God has given and designated. He also notes that exhortation can make people mad if it comes from the wrong person, but if you have that gift, get after it.
