What did the voice from heaven say at the Mount of Transfiguration?
At the Mount of Transfiguration, the voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him." This occurred when Jesus was changed before Peter, James, and John, taking on the appearance of His glory, and the heavenly voice identified Him as the beloved Son and commanded that He be heard.
Les teaches that the word "conformed" in Romans 12 is the same Greek word translated "transfigured" when Christ was transfigured on the Mount of Transfiguration. He reminds us that Peter, James, and John went up with Jesus, and He was changed right before their eyes, taking on all the appearances of His glory. The voice from heaven recognized Him as such and said, "This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him." Les then connects this to the believer's transformation, noting that while we will not have that kind of glorious appearance as Jesus did, another word from the same Greek root is metamorphosis. We are to be metamorphosed, like an old ugly cocoon opening and a beautiful butterfly emerging, totally changed from what we were before.
