What appearance did Jesus take on at the Mount of Transfiguration?
At the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus was changed before Peter, James, and John, taking on all the appearances of His glory. The voice from heaven recognized Him as the beloved Son and commanded, "Hear ye Him." This transfiguration is the same word Paul uses for being transformed.
Les teaches that at the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus was changed right before their eyes. He took on all the appearances of His glory, and the voice from heaven recognized Him as such, saying, "This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him." Les explains that the word "conformed" in Romans 12 is the same word translated "transfigured" when Christ was transfigured on the mount. It is also connected to being transformed and to metamorphosis. Les illustrates that believers are not going to suddenly have that kind of glorious appearance as Jesus did, but we are still to be transformed, transfigured, and metamorphosed—totally changed from what we were before, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
