What did God promise Abraham when he was 100 years old?

At 100 years old, Abraham was told he would have a son, and that from his 90-year-old wife and from that child God would build a nation of people. He did not stagger in unbelief but believed God, who was rich in mercy.

Les explains that Romans 4 uses Abraham as the epitome of faith. When Abraham was 100 years old, God said he would have a son, and from his 90-year-old wife, and from that child God would build a nation of people. Romans 4 says Abraham staggered not in unbelief but believed God, who was rich in mercy. This fits the surrounding context of being justified freely by His grace through redemption in Christ Jesus, and being justified by faith, not by joining the church, getting baptized, or doing this and that.
