Les Feldick Bible Study

Why do believers need to study and learn?

Believers must study and learn because they are responsible as stewards, caretakers, and managers of the mysteries. Without knowing these truths, they cannot oversee, administer, or faithfully pass them on to others who have never heard or who know nothing of them.

Les teaches from 1 Corinthians 4 that Paul puts a responsibility on believers of this age. A steward is a caretaker, a manager, and an overseer. No one can oversee or manage something he knows nothing about, so if believers are going to be what the Bible expects, they had better be studying and learning. They are to be ready to administer and manage the mysteries, and they cannot share them with others if they do not know what they are. Les also notes that stewards must be found faithful, so once believers get a hold on these mysteries, they must faithfully pass them on to those who have probably never heard or who know nothing of them.

1 Corinthians 4:1

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
