Is the God of the Old Testament the same as the God of the New Testament?
Yes. The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament. Though responsibilities differ under the old and new economies, God Himself has not changed. He remains sovereign, holy, righteous, loving, kind, merciful, and patient, still hating what He hated and not condoning what He forbade.
Les explains that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New, even though people are under a whole different set of responsibilities. God has not changed. The things God hated in the Old Testament economy He still hates today, and the things He forbade Israel in the Levitical system He still does not condone. Moses wrote Deuteronomy 29:29, but it speaks of the same God and same secret holder we deal with today. Les also notes that God is sovereign, absolute, holy, righteous, loving, kind, merciful, and patient, with every right to keep things secret until He is ready to reveal them.
