Is the God of the Old Testament the same as the God Christians serve today?
Yes. The God of the Old Testament, the God of the Mosaic law, is the same God believers deal with today. He has not changed; He is the same yesterday and forever. What He hated in Genesis He hates today, and what He admonished Israel against He admonishes us against for our own good.
Les explains that although he teaches we are not under law but under grace, that distinction does not mean God has changed. The God of the Old Testament and of the Mosaic law is the same God we deal with today. He has not changed; He is the same yesterday and forever, today and forever. Therefore, the things God hated way back in Genesis He hates today, and the things He admonished Israel not to do for their own good He admonishes us not to do today for our own good. The circumstances of the world have not changed, and what damaged health in Israel's early days is no different today. This lesson is tied to Exodus 32, where Moses had been on the mountain almost 40 days dealing with Jehovah God, receiving the Ten Commandments written by God's finger, and was coming down with Joshua.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
