Les Feldick Bible Study

Did any Israelites obtain what the nation was seeking?

Yes, a remnant did. Though the nation as a whole did not obtain what it sought, the election—the believers—did. Some Jews were elected, came to salvation, became the chosen, and were placed in the Body of Christ with the rest of believers, while the others were blinded.

Les explains that Israel wanted the King and the Kingdom, but they did not get what they were seeking because in unbelief they would not reckon that they first had to deal with the sin problem. They needed a redeeming Savior, not merely a ruling king. They expected a conquering hero on a white steed, but He came into Jerusalem on a donkey, so they rejected and crucified Him. Yet not all rejected Him. The nation for the most part did not obtain what they sought, but the election did. The elect are believers; some Jews were elected and came to salvation, becoming the chosen and being in the Body of Christ with the rest of us, while the rest were blinded. Les notes that today the nation of Israel remains largely spiritually blind, whether religious, orthodox, or secular.

Romans 11:7

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
