Who did not provoke God among those who came out of Egypt?
Among those who came out of Egypt by Moses, not all provoked God. A remnant did not, specifically Joshua and Caleb, along with a few others. The rest provoked Him through unbelief, and their carcasses fell in the wilderness because they did not believe they could take Canaan.
Les explains that the warning is against an evil heart of unbelief. In the provocation, not everyone who came out of Egypt provoked God. There was a remnant, specifically Joshua, Caleb, and a few others. The rest heard but provoked God, and He was grieved with them forty years. Their carcasses fell in the wilderness because they did not believe they could take Canaan. They could not enter His rest because of unbelief. Les emphasizes that God hates nothing more than when He says something and we think we should believe it.
For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
