Are Christians the children of God in a way Israel never was?
Yes. Members of the Body of Christ are the children of God, a term and position Israel never enjoyed and never will attain. As born-ones of God through salvation, Gentiles once not God’s people are called the children of the living God, even ruling and reigning with Christ.
Les teaches that members of the Body of Christ are the children of God, a term Israel has never enjoyed and never will. The Church enjoys a position Israel will never attain; as the Bride of Christ, believers are joined heirs with Christ and will rule and reign with Him. This relationship comes as born-ones of God by virtue of the salvation experience. Les connects this to Romans 9:25–26, where Gentiles who were never reckoned to have anything to do with Israel’s God are now called out and called the children of the living God; after that, God will turn back to His covenant people, Israel.
