Les Feldick Bible Study

Did Israel have any part in bringing the Bible to the Gentiles?

Yes. Israel had a real part, because every word of Scripture was written by Jews, and God's plan was to reach the Gentile world through His covenant people. Israel was to be a light to the Gentiles, though the nation rejected that calling in unbelief.

Les teaches that this was part of the Old Testament covenants: when Israel had completed the promises, God would turn to the Gentile world. In Isaiah 49:6, God says it is a light thing for His servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and restore the preserved of Israel, but He will also give Him as a light to the Gentiles, extending salvation to the end of the earth. Les explains that Jacob was the nation as a whole, while Israel was the believing remnant. Israel was to have the opportunity, and to a certain extent did, because every word of this book was written by Jews. Yet God had even more for the nation. They rejected it in unbelief, but God's idea was to go to the Gentile world through this covenant people. From the beginning God knew the day would come when He would go to the whole Gentile world with His salvation. When Israel constantly rejected it, He had to send the nation into dispersion, taking away their temple and their land.
