Should I complain to God about the gifts and talents He did or didn't give me?

No. God is sovereign and made each person as He intended for His purpose, so complaining about gifts or talents is not the believer's prerogative. Gifts, abilities, physical makeup, and wealth are under His control; the proper response is to accept what God has given and trust the Potter's wise purpose.

Les explains that this struggle is resolved by recognizing God's sovereignty: He is a sovereign God who deals in mercy, and believers appropriate that mercy by His unmerited favor, His grace. Paul's question, 'Why did you make me the way I am?', is answered by God's absolute sovereignty—He made us the way we are. Les says he no longer struggles with this. He stated years ago that we should never complain to God about how we look or how we are physically put together; that is not our prerogative. God made us as we are for His purpose, and we are to accept what we are as we are. The same applies to gifts and talents: it is not for us to complain and ask why God did not give us a particular gift, such as why He did not let us sing like someone else. God is sovereign in wealth and all other things too. We must always realize He is the Potter and has control of the clay.
