What did the ancient world know about what happened in Egypt?
Even years later, the ancient world knew what had happened down in Egypt. They understood it as the result of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob dealing with Pharaoh. That event was not hidden; its report spread, showing God's dealing with Pharaoh and magnifying His own name.
Les explains that this point comes while dealing with Pharaoh in Romans chapter 9. He stresses that God placed Pharaoh in that position to magnify His own name, and even years later the people of the ancient world knew what had happened down in Egypt. That knowledge came as a result of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob dealing with Pharaoh. The lesson then moves to verse 18 and the whole concept of the mercy of God.
