What did the Canaanites know about Egypt when the Jews arrived?

By the time the Jews arrived, the Canaanites in Palestine knew what had happened in Egypt. They knew the God of the Israelites had destroyed Egypt, dealt with Pharaoh, and laid Egypt waste, and years later they still talked about how the God of Israel had judged Egypt.

Les explains that after the plagues struck Egypt, even though the ancient world did not have speedy communication, the report spread across the then-known world. The pagan Canaanites in present-day Palestine, by the time the Jews arrived, knew what had happened down in Egypt and knew that the God of the Israelites had destroyed Egypt. Years later they still talked about how the God of Israel dealt with Pharaoh and laid Egypt waste. Les also notes that ancient history shows Egypt was in a shambles and others took it over, yet God did all this with Pharaoh to accomplish His sovereignty.
