Who is the Lord Jesus Christ that Christians serve?
The Lord Jesus Christ whom Christians serve is the eternal creator God of the universe, the author and finisher of our faith, the Messiah, the Christ, who came in the flesh, is over all, blessed of God forever, and is all in all. He must never be reduced to just another prophet or name among gods.
Les explains that this section goes beyond the finished part and points to the coming of the Messiah, the Christ. In verse 5, Christ came concerning the flesh, who is over all, blessed of God forever. The Messiah, the Christ, is the one with whom we are intricately involved. Christ is then the all in all. Les warns that in our day, especially New Age people are reducing Christ to just another prophet or another name among the gods, and we must be careful never to be taken in by such theology. Instead, we must never lose sight of the fact that the Lord Jesus whom we serve, the author and finisher of our faith, is the eternal creator God of the universe. Les then directs us to Colossians chapter 1, verse 15, as a good verse to confirm this.
