Where is the coming of Christ first promised in the Bible?

The coming of Christ is first promised in Genesis 3:15, where God speaks of enmity between the serpent and the woman and of the woman’s seed. Scripture identifies that seed as Christ, and this promise was first voiced right after Adam and Eve fell, setting in motion His promised coming.

Les explains that Genesis 3:15 is the first voicing of the promised coming of Christ. In the conversation with the devil, God says He will put enmity between the serpent and the woman and between the serpent’s seed and her seed. Les emphasizes the word seed, noting that Galatians identifies the seed of the woman as Christ. This promise came right after Adam and Eve fell, when God set in motion the coming of the seed of the woman.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
