Who received the covenants, the law, and the promises?

The covenants were given to the Israelites, the nation of Israel, along with the giving of the law and the promises, as the people to whom these things belonged. Their forefathers include Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the twelve patriarchs, Joshua, Samuel, the judges, David, Solomon, and the prophets.

Les explains that the covenants, the giving of the law, and the promises were given to these Israelites, to the nation of Israel. When verse 5 asks, "whose are the fathers?" the reference is to Israel's forefathers: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the twelve patriarchs, Joshua, Samuel, the judges, Gideon, Samson, King David, Solomon, and the prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. All of those things pertain to the forefathers of this little nation of Israel, and it all comes in this book.
